People often say that humans have always eaten animals, as if this is a justification for continuing the practice. According to this logic, we should not try to prevent people from murdering other people, since this has also been done since the earliest of times.
我个人对于人类是否能很快的结束对动物生命的漠视颇为悲观。我有时候甚至担心我们又会回到猎杀人类的时代。我个人认为，只要人们让动物淌血一天，世界和平就没有到来的希望。猎杀动物和希特勒制造毒气室、史达林建造集中营等残暴行为只有一线之隔－－但是这一切的举动都被冠上了冠冕堂皇的『社会主义』字眼。只要人类不放弃拿刀枪毁减弱势动物，正义没有到来的一天。
As long as human beings will go on shedding the blood of animals, there will never be any peace. There is only one little step from killing animals to creating gas chambers a la Hitler and concentration camps a la Stalin...all such deeds are done in the name of 'social justice. There will be no justice as long as man will stand with a knife or with a gun and destroy those who are weaker than he is.
如果我们夺取无辜动物的生命使其血流如注，我们何以有资格谈论权力与正义？如果我们自己本身都不慈悲，我们如何能要求天主对我们慈悲？
How can we speak of right and justice if we take an innocent creature and shed its blood? How can we pray to God for mercy if we ourselves have no mercy?
当一个人为了吃而杀了一只动物，他已忘了他自己追求正义的初衷了。人类祈求别人对他慈悲，却不愿意將慈悲扩展到对他人的慈悲。如此人们如何要求天主对他施予慈悲呢？期待别人给你不愿望给予的东西是不公平的。
When a human being kills an animal for food, he is neglecting his own hunger for justice. Man prays for mercy, but is unwilling to extend it to others. Why then should man expect mercy from God? It is unfair to expect something that you are not willing to give. |
