An Italian born visionary widowed at theage of 28 and who later received the stigmata in her hands, feet and side onMay 3rd 1865. Like the German mystic St. Catherine Emmerich, she lived on theBlessed Eucharist alone for the last ten years of her life. She made severalprophecies about Italy’s domestic affairs, the rise of Anti-Catholic Republicangovernments in Europe and the coming chastisement.

He was granted a vision showing thedevil demanding from God time to prove he could destroy the Church. God grantedhim c. 100 years.

In response, Pope Leo composed theprayer to St. Michael and other prayers to protect the Church that were to besaid at the end of every Mass.

They have since been dropped from thevernacular Mass. Pope Leo wrote in 1884:

This peace among men will not last long:25 years of abundant harvests will make them forget that the sins of men arethe cause of all the woes which happen on earth…”
