St. Thomas Aquinasis so named because he was born in Aquino in Italy in 1225. He is also calledAquinas, or the Angelic Doctor.
圣多玛斯•阿奎纳之所以如此命名,是因为他于1225年出生于意大利的阿奎诺。他也被称为阿奎纳或“天使圣师”。
He entered theOrder of St. Dominic in 1245. He taught theology in Paris and Rome. His mostfamous works are the Summa Theologica and the Summa against the Gentiles.

His influence wasimmense and the Church considers him one of its greatest doctors.

St. Thomas: “Icome from the good Jesus before the entry of the Holy Novitiate. I see withpleasure the great road of the Cross open. Know for certain that there isnothing but suffering,humiliations and surrendering (of the will) that openthis great way of perfection.

No one will enterthe Kingdom of Heaven who has not suffered and carried his cross. We must carrythe cross and suffer with Jesus.
若不受苦,不背十字架,就没有人能进天国。我们必须背负十字架,和耶稣一起受苦。
It is a necessity... The sufferings on earth are the first heaven of the soul; after the soulpasses this paradise of tests, God opens another heaven when it sees Him, toworship and love Him more.

It is necessarythat the soul is completely purified and the mind is disengaged of all humanthoughts, all love of the earth. To enter the great way perfect, it isabsolutely necessary to be tried, humiliated on the earth. This is the clearestproof that God gives to His true friends to distinguish them and to make themHis true adopted children.
灵魂完全净化,头脑脱离所有人类的思想和所有对地上事物的爱恋,是必要的。要想完美地进入这伟大的道路,必须在地上受考验,受羞辱。这是天主给祂真正的朋友最清楚的证明,让他们与众不同,成为祂真正收养的爱子。
In the path ofsublime elevation, the most certain mark of truth is peace of soul, and at thesame time, peace in the continuously rebellious part of the human heart.

Even if while onearth we would all have all the tests of St. Paul and other saints who rose tothe highest levels of perfection, all these trials, all the storms of theenemy, we would not lose this peace of soul ... If God left us a lifetime ofenjoyment without temptation, without tests, we would have no merit, we wouldnot be the true children of God.
